LGBT staff pledge

Our pledge to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGB&T) Staff

We, the chair, chief officer and governing body, want NHS NEW Devon CCG to be a safe place to be ‘out’ at work.

This means our staff are:

  • Treated with dignity and respect
  • Confident that managers will respond to homophobic incidents appropriately (This includes the challenge to derogatory use of the word 'gay', harassment and discrimination)
  • Free to join the LGBT staff network and contribute to its aims
  • Are not expected to declare their sexuality

"I feel that as a gay member of staff I am allowed to be myself"

The governing body have all read and signed the pledge to LGBT staff, the signed pledges will now be visible in all office locations. As a reminder to all staff that NHS NEW Devon CCG is an organisation that values equality and diversity of all its staff.

This is following NHS NEW Devon CCG's work with Stonewall as part of the Stonewall Health Champions project 2013/14 and is one of the many outcomes from the project.
